You Are Missing From Me: A Holiday Reflection on Love, Loss, and the French Saying "Tu me manques"
There's a French expression that has always stayed with me: "Tu me manques." I heard it once in a movie I was watching, and it was one of those sayings that just stuck with me. We translate it as "I miss you," but that's not what it really says. Word-for-word, it means "You are missing from me." Life of a 3 1/2" x 2" Card
From the moment we take our first breath, life begins to arrive — printed on paper and sealed in envelopes. A card with soft colours and tiny footprints welcomes us into the world: "It's a boy!" or "It's a girl!" Our name, handwritten by someone who loves us but doesn't yet know us. Often attached to this bouquet of beautiful flowers, teddy bears or even today, a gorgeous arrangement of fresh fruit.

Munsch, whose stories have enchanted generations, announced in 2021 that he was stepping away from writing after being diagnosed with both Parkinson's disease and dementia. In light of the recent renewed media attention, Munsch's daughter posted a heartfelt message on her father's Facebook page, reassuring fans that her father is still doing well and clarifying that his decision to pursue MAID was made several years ago.

The 4 Phases of Change and How They Show Up in Grief
Grief is not just about loss - it’s about the changes that loss brings. When we experience grief, we’re not just mourning what we’ve lost; we’re also grieving what will never be the same. Our identity, routines, relationships, and sense of safety often shift overnight. And with change comes resistance, confusion, and eventually… transformation. At Nichole Folino Coaching, I use a holistic approach to help women move through grief in a way that honors the mind, body, and soul. One of the frameworks I gently introduce in my sessions is the four phases of change - denial, resistance, exploration, and integration. These aren’t linear steps, and they don’t follow a predictable timeline. But they do show up in almost every grief journey, whether we recognize them or not. Let’s walk through each one and explore how grief and healing unfold within them.
