Who cares for the caregiver?

CARE NORTH 2027 is a two-day conference dedicated to the people who spend so much of their lives caring for others.

Presented by EXIT Life Ready in partnership with Dalron Senior Living, CARE NORTH brings together family caregivers, healthcare professionals, community organizations, students and those supporting others through the many stages of the caregiving journey.

But CARE NORTH is more than a conference about caregiving.

It is an event created for caregivers.

Over two days, participants will have opportunities to learn, connect, discover practical resources and have important conversations — while also being encouraged to take a breath, recharge and focus on their own wellbeing.

From navigating healthcare and community services to planning ahead, caregiver wellbeing, grief, end-of-life support and the role of end-of-life doulas, CARE NORTH will explore caregiving from a whole-person perspective.

Care Today. Stronger Tomorrows.

WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE

CARE NORTH 2027 will combine education with connection, practical resources and opportunities for caregiver respite.

Participants can expect:

• Engaging speakers and educational sessions
• Practical caregiver resources and tools
• Conversations about planning and preparedness
• Information about navigating healthcare and community supports
• Caregiver wellbeing and self-care experiences
• End-of-life and grief education
• Information about the role of end-of-life doulas
• Community organizations and resource providers
• Opportunities to connect with other caregivers
• Wellness and respite activities
• Time to pause, connect and recharge

CARE NORTH is intentionally being designed differently from a traditional conference.

We want participants to leave with more than information.

We want them to leave feeling supported, connected and better prepared for the journey ahead.

FIVE CARE NORTH CONCEPT THEMES

1. Caregiver Wellbeing

Respite • Self-Care • Mental Health • Me Time

Caring for someone else can leave very little time for the caregiver. CARE NORTH will create space to talk openly about caregiver wellbeing, burnout, respite and the importance of caring for yourself while caring for others.

2. Navigating the System

Resources • Services • Support in Northern Ontario

Finding the right service at the right time can be overwhelming. Participants will learn more about healthcare, community resources and support systems available to caregivers and families.

3. Planning & Preparedness

For Today, Tomorrow and What’s Ahead

Preparedness can make difficult moments easier. Sessions will explore practical ways families can organize important information, have conversations, understand wishes and prepare before a crisis happens.

4. End-of-Life & Grief

Compassion • Connection • Support

CARE NORTH will create safe opportunities for conversations about grief, loss, dying and end-of-life care while connecting participants with education and community support.

5. The Doula Role

Supporting Families Through Every Stage of the Journey

Learn about the growing role of end-of-life doulas and how non-medical support, education, advocacy and presence can complement the care provided by families and healthcare professionals. Powered by Laurentian University and End-of-Life credential program.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

CARE NORTH welcomes anyone touched by the caregiving journey.

This includes:

• Family and unpaid caregivers
• People supporting aging parents or family members
